- "There can be no doubt that population growth is one of the
world's major problems. "
- The exponential population growth is occurring almost exclusively
in the poor countries..."
- "The bad news is that as long as population continues to increase
very rapidly, in the poorest countries, the world's problems are going
to get much, much worse. There is no way of raising living standards for
the poorest people as, long as whatever economic growth is achieved,
whatever food, whatever health care and education is provided, has to be
divided by ever-increasing numbers."
- "The rich countries find themselves pouring billions of dollars
into dealing with the symptoms rather the the root causes of this
explosive mixture..."
